Darkness followed as corruption seeped into the world’s bones. A calamity called the Wyrmveil infected everything in its path. Its surge pushed the last of the Fae and Humankind to the borders of Aureneth.

A lone saint banished the Wyrmveil from the last outpost by sacrificing herself to raise a ring of impenetrable mountains to protect the last of humanity.

Centuries later, Twin kingdoms rose, two factions balancing on a precipice. The Rites of Kings was established to maintain the fragile balance between peoples.

That peace is threatened when an unknown force tries to seize power to overthrow the Rites of Kings which could plunge the last of humanity into civil war.

Hiraeth alone stands in the way. She is the Captain of the Kings Guard. She must find what rots beneath the surface of glamour of the courts to prevent the war between the Fae and Humans. Only then can the world’s order be maintained.
